Find outdoor deck benches for your porch, patio and deck.
Looking for deck benches?
Deck benches can be used to create focal points in your garden and will make your backyard much more inviting and romantic.
For people who like to build their own benches for their decks, here are some basic dimensions: Your bench seats should around 15 to 18 inches high and at least 15 to 18 inches deep.
If you decide that your benches need to have a back, the back should be at least 12 inches high. Make sure that it leans back at an angle of 20 to 30 degrees from vertical.
Benches for decks that are part of the deck railing need to extend their back to 36 inches high from the bench seat.
According to most codes, your railing needs to be at least 36 inches high for decks built higher than 30 inches above the ground.
After you build your benches, if you want them to have a more substantial look, make the legs thicker.
If you want them to look more delicate, use a router with a round over bit to round the edges of the seat and the legs. You can also give the legs some other decorative shapes with S curves for a more classic style.
Create a santuary in your backyard or patio. British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens has inspired these English garden benches that are made of ecologically-friendly and weather-resistant eucalyptus including high-quality mortise and tenon joinery. The back is smooth-contoured for seating comfort. You'll enjoy the beauty and usefulness of this bench for many years.
• Locate one of these cedar benches around the trunk of a special tree and you've created a beautiful spot to sit and enjoy its cool shade. • Add attractive low-maintenance seating for your backyard. • The unfinished cedar will resist weathering naturally and you can stain it, seal it or leave it unfinished to turn gray with time.
